Even though bww2 has only been open for less than a week, the staff has already found a few people getting around the spam filter that requires at least 5 words to a post. This will not be tolerated at all. We have cut the offenders some slack due to the fact that this was never officially announced. Be warned now, starting a week from today (Sept. 16), which means on Sept. 23, users who try to get past the filter will be banned for 10 days or even more if caught again. Don't think that this means you can get away with it for a week. Offenders caught within this week can expect to be banned for 12 hours Spam posts include:

in this scenarios where people demand their speaking rights, and yet they do meaningless things~ sad sad. thank on clarifying this though. i found out on one of yuu-chan post. but with so many thing posted, peoples easily missed this one. |

omg!, some members really find ways to cut short and always try to break rules. I really think all members should follow all the rules.I definitely follow all the rules.I agree to ban them even longer period if they got caught !!!! e-omg e-OMG e-mad |

isn't that kind of lame, people have to sit there and write a bunch of things just to be able to download songs, not everyone comes here to chat, forcing people to write a bunch of things is a bit anal, dont you think? might as well find another community, this community is better suited for old members who already have most songs as opposed new ones who want to start a collection, but this filter stops them. so how can you expect your community to grow at all if you're penalizing new members. *edit1* and im sure you can tell by all the people you banned for 12 hours who just signed up. also not everyone will read the rules that you do not post on the sign up page. *edit2* seriously lighten up and think from a new member perspective, if you ban all prospective new members you will end up with very few people staying. you claimed i was copy and pasting but i did change words around, i wanted a few songs, but seriously how much do you expect people to write? when they dont know if the song is any good, you expect them to write something for everything? thats really tedious dont you think? how much can one person write before they say omg this is so ridiculous, its just going to be a bunch of lies in the end just to get songs. also that being said, how did i bypass your 12 hour ban? sure im not the only one.. now you have another problem. excess of new accounts, way to start a new forum with bunch of banned accounts that will never be used again, cause the smart ones bypassed your ban and made new accounts. anyways, I once thought this was a cool community, but its too strict now, and yes the spam filter IS a hassle, and 8 words IS too much to ask for, think about it from a person who lost all his songs, or starting a collection, your filter says "gtfo". so thats exactly what I will do. It doesn't take 5 minutes of your time to write a simple sentence, thanking the uploader for their hard work. We are not forcing you 'to write a bunch of things'. If you don't want to thank the uploader, then you don't have the files. |

With regards to the original post: The spam filter isn't in place to force people to "chat". It's set to prevent leeching. I'm not sure if you've ever uploaded an album but I have & it takes time to upload and make the post. All an uploader wants is to feel appreciated. So maybe a person who wants to download the file can state why they want it or how long they've been waiting for it. Is it really that hard?? c10v3r up there said 5 minutes. I'm thinking if it takes you even 2 minutes to write about 10 words of thanks or eagerness then you don't really want it. What does being an old member & having music have to do with anything? Either way members have to show appreciation in order to access the download link. I'm really at a loss as to how posting 10-ish words will stunt our community's growth. No one's aiming at and penalizing new members specifically - anyone caught breaking the rules will be punished. In response to Edit 1 Members "who just signed up" most likely have been a part of the old bww2 and thus should know about punishment to leechers & whatnot. But yes, we are working on getting a big announcement title (lik on old bww2) so that members can see these things easier. Meanwhile it is up to the members to keep up with rules. Ignorance is not an excuse Replying to Edit 2 Copy & pasting is definitely not showing appreciation. If you don’t know how good a song is then say it! If you just want to try some new person out then say it. It doesn’t take that long I’m sure. 8-10 words is seriously not tedious. Heck use it to I don’t know spaz or something. How much do we expect people to write? Well literally at least 8 words but the spam filter isn’t put there for the purpose of inconvenience. Share your thoughts regarding the shared file why don’t you? Way to go, you made a new account. We’re all super scared that there will be a bunch of “smart” people like you that will flood new bww2 and create another problem. Right. 8 words –sigh- once again is not hard – 1 minute or 2 max. We’re not requiring that you provide details about the songs, commenting on its lyrics and what insight they give on the meaning of life. Bye :D we’ll miss you ^^ |

With all due respect Password, I do understand that it can be annoying. But, please understand that there isn't only members who solely download to satisfy. A lot of the regular members of our forum are the ones who upload and by personal experience, I hate it with a passion when all I get for my hard work is a mere 'ty' or 'thanks'. I also find ironic how you used the word 'community'. If you find showing some gratitude a nuisance, then why join a forum or for this matter a community? Wouldn't you expect in a forum to be demanded of some interaction with members? If you want to be a leecher then don't join forums like Bww2, instead direct yourself towards LJ and blogs which require minimum interaction. Which I might add that similar forums like Bww2 have similar rules regarding downloads. You also claim that our community is not growing? It isn't the sheer number of registered members that counts the size of a the forum, what really makes the forum grow are the members who regularly come back and CONTRIBUTE back to the community. As for by passing our bans? Hm, well way to be a smarty pants thanks telling me now I can permanently ban your IP address. Like I said if you want to be a leecher than leave this community and leech somewhere else. Regarding the spam filter forum wide. I can't change that with my current knowledge in HTML and CSS. This is a code I found in the internet, therefore if someone knows how to make it to where it only applies to download section. I am more than glad to hear out. Thanks for the clarification, on the other forums i go to, they actually intiate a minimum of 20 words per post, and won't let you submit the post unless it's over 20 >.< It's a good rule to initiate though.. gets members going on this forum : ) |

I personally think its a good idea this whole spam filtering thing cause i did contribute to the forums before and it was annoying to get "ty" and thats it, but i was wondering are you guys still tweaking it cause in some places i can't seem to post anything even if its more than 8 words, ex: the word games section (oh any sorry if this is in hte wrong thread still getting used to where everything is on the new bww2)

You may use spaces in the game section which bypasses the 8 words spam filter. If you are found taking advantage of that in the download sections, be prepared to not be able to use bww2 for awhile. |

8 words seem to be a hassle to be honest, esp outside of the download section, ESPECIALLY in the games sections. I've read that it's ONLY in the download section but when i was doin the games earlier i kept getting the "minimum 8 words" pop up at me (and i believe the game was "what time is it?") While I do realize spamming IS a definite problem, usually people show their appreciation by writing "Thanks so much for uploading!" which is only five words and any more seems like it's forcing people to give fake appreciation. *shrug* just an opinion. It's a hassle but rules are rules, what can you do? |

I'm a little confused bout "Thanks for sharing," how does that kind of fall under the spam? I mean... for a download what else can we say? I mean if I haven't heard the song and I haven't found it before on youtube - there isn't much I can say aside from something along those lines. |

nana o: we don't know how to apply it only to the downloads so it's forum wide atm. If you post less than 8 words elsewhere though we're not gonna punish you xbb & nana o: you can say something else like how much you like the artist . . . or if it's new to you you can mention how you're eager to hear it or something. Ok so it's a hassle to some people who don't want to type more but we're not going to take it down because in our opinion it does more good than harm |
